I am a single dad and have been renting, but every place I moved to sold, and we would have to move again. I really wanted the security of owning my own home for my daughter and me.

I met with Cilicia Philemon and she went to work for me. She set me up with a great lender, so I was ready to go when I found the perfect place. My budget was limited but she found me a condo close to my work that fit my needs. It was a difficult situation, as the condo had a renter who was a hoarder and didn’t want to move out.

Cilicia did an amazing job negotiating on my behalf, and even paid a mover to get the tenant out so we could close escrow on time.  She was patient with me and explained the process along the way and always kept me updated. I was looking around the area on my own when I walked into the John L. Scott office in Forest Grove and met Cilicia Philemon. She was friendly, cheerful and informative, gathering some information to help focus my search. I mentioned that I was already in contact with another Agent whom I had picked out of the phonebook from my previous home in Colorado. Ever the professional, Cilicia still shared information and even some tips about the local area. She also mentioned that if it ever didn’t work out with the other Broker, give her a call….she’d love to help.

Well, it didn’t work out with the other Broker. He was intent on getting me to buy a house that, upon professional inspection, suffered standing water in the crawlspace issues, failing siding, and other issues. The selling agent would not meet the costs of repair for such critical items and the deal fell through. Four months later and they still won’t return my earnest money and it looks like my first venture into Oregon Small Claims court is imminent (not my preference, believe me).

I called Cilicia from Colorado to say I was still in the market. She saw a house on top of a hill that met almost all the criteria I had shared with her and was priced in the right ballpark. She was flexible in her schedule to accommodate my next trip out from Colorado and had showings set up for me the next day. We started with the house on the hill….and needed to go no further. I immediately asked that we bid on it and Cilicia had it done later that day.

Another potential buyer had bid as well and had a high escalation clause on their offer (higher than mine), but the buyer preferred my offer, if we could just “split the difference” between the two. Cilicia thoroughly explained the situation to me and it seemed a fair request. We upped the offer and the process proceeded smoothly.

Cilicia Philemon was very patient with me and sometimes I am not an easy client.
I was very particular in what I wanted and we looked at many nice houses. We finally found a house I really liked and made an accepted offer on it.

I enthusiastically recommend Cilicia. She has a great personality, is hard working, very patient, has good ideas, and is very interested in helping her clients. She communicates very well, and I never thought she was too busy to talk to me. She worked very hard for me.
